This intimate Topsail wedding day was truly one of the most memorable wedding days I have ever photographed. Although, I may be a little biased because the bride is my absolute best friend! But regardless of who they are in relation to me, this coastal Topsail wedding day was so sweet and beautiful!
If you have never heard of Topsail, it is a small island off the southeast coast of North Carolina. Topsail Island is close to the more well-known area, the Outer Banks. This quaint beach town feels like it’s out of a Nicholas Sparks movie, it is so peaceful and romantic. Topsail Island is a perfect place to get married if you’re looking for a relaxed, beachy vibe!
Theresa and Andrew started dating in 2017 after working together at Zips Rec, in college at the University of Akron. After being long-distance post-college, during COVID, Theresa moved from Akron to start living with Andrew in Virginia. In 2021, they moved to North Carolina, where Andrew proposed at sunset on Topsail Beach.
Both Andrew and Theresa love the outdoors – going to the beach, hiking, sitting in their backyard, anything outside! Not only that, but they love spending time with their people and their dog, Mo. They are truly the most generous and kind people I have ever met, and I believe anyone else that knows them would agree.
They fit together so perfectly, almost as if they were made for each other. I know that sounds super cheesy, but their love for each other is unreal! Hopefully, you can feel their love for each other as you look at their wedding photos.
Since being with their family and friends is one of the most important things to them, they rented out beach houses for all of their family and friends to stay for the week together with them in North Topsail. The wedding itself was extremely intimate and was held at the house they were staying at. While they decided not to have a wedding party, they each still got ready with their best friends and siblings who were considered “honorary bridesmaids and groomsmen”. All the decor was handmade or sourced by the couple which made it even more unique (more details on that below with the corresponding photos). For the reception, they had their favorite food – Chipotle and ice cream. Their wedding day was so intentional and perfectly them!
Also, fun-fact: the house that this couple got married at was used as a film location in the iconic teen drama television series One Tree Hill. But that played no part in why they decided to get married there, just a fun side note I like to share with people!
A very special girls moment I had to share! Theresa’s friend, Anne, who is in the Marines and was deployed, actually flew in and surprised Theresa on the morning of the wedding morning. Originally, she was not going to make it to the wedding due to her deployment. But about a month out she texted me saying she was getting home early and wanted help pulling off the surprise! It was the best seeing Theresa’s face and joy. If you’re curious Anne is the one in the blue dress with blonde hair, standing with the rest of the unofficial bridal party!
A few sweet moments during the ceremony that I wanted to touch on:
Once the sun went down and the party on the dance floor started, Theresa and Andrew changed into sweatpants onesies for the last hours of dancing. They absolutely LOVE onesies, so it was the perfect way to end their wedding celebration.
Documenting stories of love and connection makes my heart beat hardest, and it would be an honor to photograph yours. To me, this is much more than taking your photo, I am here to put your experience at the forefront and allow you the space to let loose and feel genuinely you. Let’s create something magical together that will preserve your milestone in an authentic and celebratory way that will last years to come.
