In 2022, my husband and I (plus our two dogs) packed up our lives, leaving Ohio to finally move to our soul place – Fort Collins, Colorado. We’ve loved finding our people and community here while enjoying the beauty and playing around in the endless amount of nature we have incredible access too — and it quite simply doesn’t get old.
The drives through the canyon and mountain passes, time spent with our friends over games and drinks in backyards and camping under the stars. Every hike and bike ride, dips in the reservoir, brewery beers and walks around our downtown. It feels like home, which is the most incredibly soul-filling thing.
Photography is my way of capturing everything that makes my heart beat hardest — lovers in the landscapes they call home. It’s not just about eloping with the Rockies and the wild as your witness. It's about loving your person, whether that's on the living room sofa with a pizza and beer or on the trails of Crested Butte.
LET'S CONNECT
I promise to honor the real moments and keep you present to the beauty of it all. I promise to be a positive & calm presence, to show up with love for you, your people & your story.
“Rachel is able to capture the authenticity of your day in such a genuine way that when you look back at the photos, you feel as if you are right back in those special moments.”
- BRANDON & KATE
Growing up in a small lakeside village in NE Ohio, there wasn’t much to see or do beyond the quiet inlet in our backyard. Because of this, I felt a deep connection to the outdoors and a longing to explore beyond my little world. I was a Tumblr girly, dreaming of all the places I would travel and finding inspiration to seek them out however I could.
I love feeling grounded in a sense of setting, in places that leave you with a sense of wonder — no matter how little or small.
The patterns waves leave in the sand, rock formations and layers, the way light paints mountainsides…
But, documenting landscapes isn't just about travel anymore — it's about capturing my couples’ stories as they connect with and exist in the environments they love.
It’s allowed me to start living the happiest version of my life so far — and it's a pretty sweet bonus that I've gotten to keep taking landscape // outdoor travel photographs along the way.
LEARN ABOUT WORKING WITH ME
As a kid, I fondly remember visiting my grandparents who lived down the street from us. My grandfather would pull out craft supplies and paint with me. He was an artist himself, and he loved sharing his creativity with us.
I was so young, yet I cherished our time together, painting and exploring art. Even after he passed, his influence lingered through my grandmother, who, despite not being an artist herself, treasured printed photos and creating photo books. A few years ago as I was starting my own photography business, we sat looking at her photo collections together and she said to me:
“These old photos are special. When you look back at them, you remember the day and feel it all over again.”
Despite being such a distant memory, the creative imprint left by my grandfather and those words from my grandmother mean the world to me now as an artist of my own. I still have a few of his paintings and sketches today...
