These coffee shop engagement photos near Rocky Mountain National Park are so precious! My couple, James and Josie, chose to have a unique engagement session that was filled with activities they love to do as a couple.
James and Josie are originally from the suburbs west of Chicago. They were *almost* high school sweethearts! While they went to high school together, they didn’t start dating until college. James and Josie moved to Denver 1.5 years ago and absolutely fell in love with all things outdoors – fishing, hiking, climbing, etc. Combining their love for coffee shops with their love for the great outdoors and beautiful scenery was super important to them. So we started their engagement session at Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park before ending at a coffee shop, Coffee on the Rocks in Estes Park.
I’m really looking forward to their intimate garden party wedding with 50 of their closest friends and family. Unlike many traditional weddings, they won’t have a wedding party or dancing at the reception. Instead, they want to make everyone feel involved in their special day by mingling and hanging out with everyone all night. James and Josie really value intentionality and connection, which shows even in their engagement session!
Why take coffee shop engagement photos?
One thing I always encourage my couples to do is infuse their personality into their engagement sessions, and a great way to do that is by choosing an experience, like your favorite thing to do together. Being in your natural element helps you both feel comfortable and relaxed! Instead of worrying about feeling nervous in front of the camera, you can just enjoy being together while I’m capturing all the sweet moments in-between.

- Do you have a special prop or activity you’d like to do for your session?
- Think of dates you love going on with each other or activities you love doing together – would doing something like this for your session together be meaningful to you?
